The Center for Global Sustainability (CGS) is committed to fostering a just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive world both within our community and through collaborative research and action. We understand that our community is made stronger by the inclusion and championing of diverse perspectives and attributes that make us unique. We will work to equip our students, faculty, and staff with a strong understanding of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion that is essential to creatively tackling climate, energy, and other sustainability challenges from local to global scales. We are also committed to catalyzing more inclusive and effective action on these challenges by engaging deeply across diverse communities to promote mutual understanding and coalition-building. We recognize that to truly address the challenges of climate change, energy access, and economic opportunity, we must acknowledge that the burdens and benefits of environmental impacts and proposed solutions are not distributed equally—and we actively work to create just, meaningful, and lasting change.
