Scott Dance is The New York Times' climate adaptation correspondent. He writes about the consequences of global warming for communities, governments and businesses, reporting from disaster zones and covering the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He previously wrote for The Washington Post and The Baltimore Sun, where he was part of teams named finalists for the Pulitzer Prize. He was a Nieman fellow at Harvard University in 2021. He earned two degrees from the University of Maryland: a bachelor's in journalism in 2006 and a master's of public policy in 2014. He is a Baltimore County native.
