The Center for Global Sustainability jointly launched Research for Climate Action (RCA) at COP22, a global network of leading academic and research institutions. This initiative seeks to connect world-class research and analytical capabilities with key decision-makers to spur action on climate change.
The seventh annual Inter-University Climate Change Negotiation Simulation (ICCN) hosted by the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland drew students from across the region for a unique opportunity to experience the work of international climate negotiations firsthand.
The summit, co-hosted by the UN secretary-general, the World Bank, the University of Maryland, and several other partners, brought together more than 700 leaders from government, business, finance, civil society, philanthropy, international institutions, as well as scientific and academic communities.
The University of Maryland hosted a public conference supporting the objectives of the Climate Action 2016 summit held in Washington, D.C. A wide range of individuals attended the forum, including UMD students and faculty, and experts from organizations involved in all aspects and scales of solving the climate challenge.
