With high-level side-events, an exhibit space, and a contingent of faculty and students, the University of Maryland and the Center for Global Sustainability (CGS) had a strong presence at this year’s international climate conference in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Center for Global Sustainability jointly launched Research for Climate Action (RCA) at COP22, a global network of leading academic and research institutions. This initiative seeks to connect world-class research and analytical capabilities with key decision-makers to spur action on climate change.
UMD will be represented and actively driving global conversations on climate implementation and climate policy at this year’s UN climate conference in Marrakesh, Morocco. Building on previous COPs, UMD will be sending faculty, staff, and students to COP22 from November 7-18.
Center experts have been active in the past weeks, participating in conversations regarding a 1.5 degrees climate target, climate modeling, and at the International Dialogue on our Global Commons hosted by the Global Environment Facility and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
