Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of our School of Public Policy graduates at the May commencement ceremony. The commencement will recognize students from Undergraduate, Master and Doctoral programs. The ceremony will feature alumnus Jazz Lewis, who will deliver the School's commencement address at our ceremony on Friday, May 24.
Jazz Lewis represents Maryland's 24th Legislative District in the state's House of Delegates, where he serves on the House Judiciary Committee as chair of the Family Law Subcommittee. He is also the vice chair of the Maryland House Democratic Caucus, and executive director of Congressman Hoyer's Maryland political organization. During his time in office, Lewis has focused extensively on issues related to criminal justice reform and economic development, drawing on his background as an organizer in Baltimore to advocate for communities throughout the state. Lewis graduated from University of Maryland in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics and in 2014 with a Master of Public Policy. He has continued to be an active member of our community, regularly engaging with our students and alumni and sharing his experiences working at the intersection of policy and politics.
We are proud of this year’s outstanding graduate candidates, and we look forward to celebrating your achievements in your professional careers!
