Join us next Monday, April 30, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the Prince George's Room of the Stamp Student Union (3972 Campus Dr, College Park, MD 20742).
Angela Burnett will be visiting the University of Maryland on April 30 from her home country of the British Virgin Islands, where she has served with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour as the Climate Change Officer since 2008. She survived Hurricane Irma in Fall 2017, and has written and published The Irma Diaries, which shares survivor stories of the hurricane as a way to motivate transformational climate research and action.
Ms. Burnett’s visit on the closing day of Earth Month provides a unique opportunity to explore disaster recovery, transitional climate change adaptation, and related policy priorities across UMD disciplines. This event is collaboratively organized and sponsored by the Global Sustainability Initiative (GSI), the Center for Disaster Resilience, the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC), Environmental Sciences and Policy students (ENSPire), and the Maryland Sea Grant.
