"A Comparison of United States, Germany and China Building Energy Codes and Policies - their Impact on Achieving Net Zero Energy Goals"

The built environment is responsible for a significant use of energy (62%) and is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions (55%). Many countries have introduced initiatives and policies have to promote the Net Zero Energy Buildings in recent years. This research project reviews policies for net zero buildings and reviews differences of building energy codes among regions. Buildings are modeled with similar climate zone classification in those four countries based on country’s respective building energy codes. The talk will include discussion of standards and net-zero energy goals as they relate to planning for the new SPP building.
