The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change twenty-second session of the Conference of the Parties (COP22) and the twelfth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 12) will take place in Marrakech, Morocco from November 7-18 , 2016. The University of Maryland is sending faculty, staff, and students in their delegation.

CGS will co-convene an official UN side event on November 7 from 16:45 - 18:15, Advancing (I)NDC Implementation and Ambition: Bridging Research and Practice with the NewClimate Institute and the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. This event will bring together experts and practitioners to discuss (I)NDC implementation and ambition in light of wider development benefits and costs. CGS will also partner with the Council on Arab World Relations with Latin America and the Caribbean (CARLAC) on Nov 10 from 15:00-16:30 in the Green Zone, on Leveraging lessons from Latin America and the Arab World: Working with the global community for a low-carbon future. CGS will exhibit at COP22 from Nov 7-12, to establish a public point of interaction with our leading research climate agenda, featuring leading UMD research that is relevant to the climate and sustainability agenda of CGS and to the priorities and goals of COP22, demonstrating the research, educational, and policy role that the UMD community plays in this global challenge.
